Pantone Colour of the year 2023

So, what are Pantone Colours?

Pan – all colours. Pantone is the global standard for colours used by designers, artists & manufacturers. It started in 1950 as a commercial printing company and since then has been widely recognised for developing the standardized numbering Pantone Matching System (PMS). It gives artists and designers a way to reproduce colours that are consistent across design projects and locations. Pantone is used universally and recognized as the world’s authority on colour.

Each year Pantone chooses a colour of the year (since the year 2000), based on market research, current consumer trends and cultural influences globally. The main objective is to help the fashion or interior designers plan for future products and incorporate the colour into their products and spaces. In December 2022, Pantone declared Viva Magenta 18- 1750, as the Colour of the year 2023. This vibrant shade of pinkish – purple is often associated with energy, creativity, and boldness. It is also the shade of cheerfulness, balance, and harmony. 

This shade is already trending across the design industry such as consumer fashion brands and design spaces.
